Sylvana Caloni is a Leadership Consultant, Executive Coach, Facilitator of Peer Advisory Circles and Learning Groups. She contributes to discussion panels on leadership, diversity and inclusion and facilitates workshops at international conferences.
In 2004 Sylvana established her coaching business in London, following a 15-year career in global investment banking. A pathbreaker, she was the first female equity analyst and portfolio manager at Bankers Trust Australia. As an Executive Vice President responsible for global equity research teams she probed C-Suite executives across a range of international industries and geographies. From these insights and perspectives, she distilled the essence of successful business management and market out-performance.
Based on her first-hand experience of the fast paced and demanding financial services sector she was commissioned to write “My Win, your loss” or the Zero Sum Game: The Mindset of Financial Markets Executives for the International Journal of Coaching in Organizations™.
Sylvana brings this wealth of experience and leading edge training in executive learning and development to her engagements. She weaves together an understanding of neuroscience, Conversational Intelligence®, adult development theory, systemic and ontological coaching and neuro linguistic programming to best suit her clients’ needs. Sylvana partners with high potential executives on a promotion track, with recently promoted executives and with established leaders to enable them to become more successful and to deliver improved results. Her coaching programmes are funded by organizations or self-starting individuals. Many of her clients are accomplished managers or experts who acknowledge that the transition to leadership creates additional challenges.
Sylvana assists her clients to make the invisible visible; to develop their self knowledge and to become aware of how their presence, behaviours, values and attitudes impact others. As an Italian-Australian living in London she is versed in change, cultural diversity and multiple perspectives. She assists her clients to appreciate the nuances of the different working and communication styles of their teams. Her clients become more flexible leaders, able to listen more deeply and to have conversations that create greater understanding and collaboration.
Sylvana was the Founding Chair of Advance in the UK, a global network for Australian Professionals and is an Advance Lifetime Ambassador. She is a former President of Women in Banking and Finance (WIBF) and was honoured to serve on the Diversity Advisory Panel to the Lord Mayor of the City of London in 2013-14. She was also a member of the Tomorrow’s Company Global Leadership Forum where she contributed to the report Tomorrow’s Global Leaders: How to build a culture that ensures women reach the top. Sylvana is currently a Board Director of the UK Chapter of the International Women’s Forum (IWF).
Sylvana cares about creating opportunities for disadvantaged children. She was a mentor to the the residents of the Rugby Portobello Trust and is a Trustee of the Friends of the Rose Bowl, a charity that helps to fund a youth club. She supports emerging leaders as a coach on the UpRising national youth leadership programme and as a mentor at Regent’s University London.
