Mr. Velasquez is a business executive who has worked in Japan since 1994. He holds the position of President CEO of BL&C, a Tokyo-based L&D services firm specializing in management and language training.
Miguel-Angel founded the firm in June 2004 and is responsible for developing and managing the firm’s business including supervising professional and administrative staff. Additionally, Miguel-Angel handles the firm’s client projects in the field of executive coaching, leadership development and training.
Miguel-Angel is a Certified Organizational Coach, Level One (IELC), Certified in Conversational Intelligence®, and Certified DISC Practitioner. He received his organizational coaching training, level 1, in person, at the IECL (Institute of Executive Coaching and Leadership).
Miguel-Angel has personally been involved in serving the international business community in Japan for 23 years.
His corporate clientele is represented in the legal, financial, banking, aerospace, hospitality, pharmaceutical & medical, transportation, semiconductor, and IT industries: White & Case, KPMG, Ernst & Young, Medtronics, Wipro, Chugai-Roche, Toyota, Coca Cola, IBM, Bloomberg, Hilton Hotel, Tupperware, Air-Bus, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, DHL, UPS, NEC, Mitsubishi-FUSO to mention a few.
Prior to BL&C, Miguel-Angel spent 8 years in the position of Sales & Marketing Director at Japan Concept Corporation (JCC) in Tokyo, and 2 years in the position of President of JM&C Inc. in Tokyo, 2 companies in the JCC group that specialized in corporate language training.
At JCC he led various long-term projects including the design of new corporate training services such as managerial business English and MBA preparatory courses for Japanese business executives who intended to enroll in MBA schools in the USA and UK.
Before JCC, Miguel-Angel spent 2 years with Tokyo Servo Systems in the position of business development manager. In the two years that he held this position he led the development of a new business that dealt with home medical devices and supplies for the seniors.
While attending Columbia University in New York (1989-1992), Miguel-Angel worked on part-time basis at Dillon & Read, an investment banking firm, for 3 years where he served as research assistant at the Fixed Income division.
Based in Tokyo Miguel-Angel is an experienced corporate training consultant, practitioner, and trainer who has spent his career developing and implementing innovative corporate training programs. He was a pioneer promoting and using the concept of blended-learning in Japan.
Presently he uses state-of-the-art internet technology (2D and 3D virtual classroom) to deliver services to remote areas of Japan. Miguel-Angel earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Pace University in New York and his BS in Electronics Engineering from the National University of Engineering in Lima, Peru.
He did graduate studies in international affairs and business at Columbia University in New York. He has passed the Japan Ministry of Education’s highest level of Japanese proficiency exam.
Miguel-Angel was born in Peru and has worked and studied in Peru, Venezuela, the US and Japan. He speaks Spanish and Japanese and uses these languages together with English in his work.
